Gift Guide: Swimming Edition
Happy Gift Guide Friday! While this might be a bit niche, a swimmer gift guide was one of the most requested. So for all the swimmers (or friends and family of a swimmer), here are some of my favorite products for training and meets. I used to say in interviews all the time, “Look good, swim good,” because for me, walking out to race in my pair of sparkle UGGs made me feel the most confident! I hope you find this fun and helpful!
Jolyn Two-Piece: Even though it's winter, this is the #1 gift that will please any swimmer and make them training trip ready. I don't know a single swimmer who doesn't own a Jolyn. If you're looking for a two-piece swimsuit that stays put during training, this is the best option. They offer a wide range of styles, from very cheeky to full coverage bottoms.
Aquaphor: This is a lifesaver for dry skin. Whether I have chlorine burn from an indoor swim meet with 1200 people or my skin just needs some TLC after training in the sun all day, this is my go-to.
Speedo Speed Socket 2.0 Goggles: These are the only goggles I wear. They're perfect for long training days and swim meets. Plus, I love that they come in glitter. I even got to design my own pair one year that was pink sparkle!
Aritzia Sweat Suit: No one wants to put on real clothes after practice, and plus, pool decks are always chilly. This is a great option for a sweatsuit that's not baggy and team-issued. It's super flattering and comes in a variety of colors.
Soletec Swim Fins: My choice for fins! I adore these and wear them for training and even body surfing in the ocean. These fins are super fast, so get ready to outpace your teammates.
Tower28 SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray: Perfect for when you're on the go after practice or weights but still need to take care of your skin. The spray is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, helping to calm your skin.
Rubber Birkenstocks: I've been wearing these around the pool deck since 2018. Pool decks can get gross, and these are great to wear on deck and in the locker room. Pair them with cute socks for warm feet on your way to practice. Mine have lasted 4-5 years!
Foam Roller: Every professional swimmer has about 10 of these and never goes anywhere without one. Whether you're a middle school swimmer or heading to a D1 college, foam rolling can only help you establish good recovery habits early.
OUAI Hair Mask: Chlorine does some damage to your hair. I apply this right after a shower at the pool or after a beach day, and it's done wonders for keeping my hair in great condition.
Wet Brush: Literally called a wet brush for a reason. When paired with some leave-in conditioner or the OUAI hair mask, nothing gets the knots out of my hair better. I have a super sensitive scalp, and this brush doesn't make me feel like my hair is being ripped out.
Speedo One Back Suit: The only suit I ever train in. Once I started wearing this style, I never looked back. It's comfortable with just the right amount of compression. I love how high it runs on the hips, and the open back allows for the most mobility during hard training.
Waterproof Toiletry Bag: I've tried my fair share of toiletry bags for my swim bag, and they always end up moldy and gross. This one is waterproof and great for holding my hairbrush, face wash, shampoo, etc. They’re also great for organization — I use one to hold my extra goggles and caps in case one breaks at practice.
Mini UGG's: If you know me, you know I always wore UGG's on deck. Keeping your feet warm is crucial to ensuring you're ready to swim fast. I wear them in all weather, whether the meet is outside and 90 degrees or inside in Minnesota in January.
Speedo Swim Bag: This cute version is a more grown-up look compared to the giant ones I used as a kid. It fits everything I need without looking lame.
Mini Theragun: One of my most-used recovery tools that has traveled around the world with me. The mini is great to toss in the swim bag and work out soreness before practice or after a race.
Aritzia Shorty Super Puff: I love this jacket and use it not only for swim meets or heading to practice but also in everyday life. I love a gift that's versatile and needed in the “real world."
